Business Case

The client was experiencing growth in NBN Network Construction and Maintenance activities, and had several projects underway, each at different stages in their lifecycle. To improve the delivery and achieve key metrics, the leadership required an expert to support in establishing a structured PMO and roll out a standardized approach nationally to optimize project mobilization and execution.

Approach

A detailed review was conducted with the Leadership team to establish requirements and agree on a high-level roll out schedule. Detailed operational gaps in project mobilization and execution were captured through reviews with functional managers and leads. The following approach was used to achieve the objectives:

• Established Project Management Office with tiered levels for project execution, governance, and mitigating risks to delivery – Level 1 Senior Leadership, Level 2 Project Functional Managers, Level 3 Supervisor and operational teams
• A structured reporting on key metrics for Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery, and review meetings implemented for progress reporting, communication, and escalation of any risks to delivery
• Developed an operational guide for Project Lifecycle activities
• Developed Leadership Playbook to set up the expectations and alignment
• Trained & coached teams in the lean philosophy and problem-solving tools for resolving issues
